Les Nunn
Les Nunn grew up in the food business in his family’s Nunn Better flour mill. He has spent most of his life out West involved in ranching and other agricultural enterprises. Les was the Administrator of the Navajo Agricultural Products Industry helping the Navajo Indians to develop and run the 110,630 acre Navajo Indian Irrigation Project in the Four Corners area of Arizona and New Mexico. While with the Navajos, Les was instrumental in saving the Churro Sheep and he developed a new breed of wool sheep for the Navajos.
When he retired from that, Les became a professor at the University of Southern Indiana where he recently retired again as the Chair of the Accounting and Finance Department of the Romain College of Business where he taught entrepreneurship and other courses. Now, Les owns and operates Bar Nunn Ranch in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He has developed another new breed of sheep called Nunn Better, but these are hair sheep and are known for their multiple births in each lambing. Les started Nunn More Natural meats to provide the finest quality of beef from cattle raised on his ranch as well as cattle raised to his specifications by other ranchers. His business philosophy is the same as was instilled in him by his father and grandfather – treat your customers as family. Provide the finest quality at a fair price and be involved with your customers. Learn what their needs are and fulfill those needs to the best of your ability. |
